Good Samaritan Hospice to Continue Under New Ownership

ree

VINCENNES, Ind. (We Are Knox County) – After announcing plans to close its hospice program, Good Samaritan has now confirmed that care will continue through a new partnership.

The hospital announced Wednesday that CommonSpirit Health at Home will acquire and take over operations of Good Samaritan Hospice.

“With this acquisition, CommonSpirit Health at Home will bring hospice services under their umbrella, allowing for a seamless transition and continued coordination of care for patients across Indiana and Illinois,” Good Samaritan said in a statement.

Current Good Samaritan Hospice caregivers will remain with the program under CommonSpirit’s ownership.

Good Samaritan said CommonSpirit Health at Home will also continue to license the Good Samaritan name for hospice services.

The transition is expected to take effect February 1, 2026.

According to Good Samaritan, hospice services will continue through the hospital during the transition to ensure uninterrupted care for current patients.

Palliative care services will also remain in place through the hospital.

At the beginning of October, Good Samaritan announced plans to end hospice services on December 31, 2025, citing changes in how end-of-life care is delivered and a renewed focus on core hospital and outpatient services.
