KNOX COUNTY, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - Knox County Water took to social media to clear up confusion surrounding the boil order issued a Friday.

According to Knox County Water, it placed its customers under a boil order as a precaution since it purchases water from Vincennes Water Utilities.

The Town of Bruceville has also asked its residents to boil water.

The City of Vincennes announced Friday afternoon that Vincennes Water Utilities customers were under a boil order.

“Due to a lab error, a boil order has been issued out of an abundance of caution,” the city said in a news release.

There has been no further clarification on what the “lab error” was.

A public notice on the Vincennes Water Utilities website states that one or more routine water samples collected on April 15 tested positive for E. coli.

According to Knox County Water, samples can take up to 48 hours for results.

In its Facebook post, Knox County Water said Edwardsport, Freelandville, and Oaktown are also not included in the boil order.
