Knox County Sheriff’s Office Releases 2025 Activity Report

KNOX COUNTY, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - Newly released year-end data from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office shows deputies handled more calls for service in 2025 compared to the previous year.
According to the report, deputies responded to 10,670 calls for service in 2025, up from 9,695 calls in 2024.
Traffic activity made up the largest portion of calls for service in 2025.
According to the sheriff's office deputies conducted 2,908 traffic stops during the year, a significant increase from 2,247 traffic stops in 2024 — a rise of nearly 30 percent.
Vehicle crashes also increased substantially, climbing from 522 crashes in 2024 to 687 in 2025, an increase of more than 31 percent.
Other traffic-related and vehicle calls included:
656 disabled or abandoned vehicle calls
308 attempts to locate a reckless driver
371 VIN checks
Beyond traffic activity, deputies responded to a wide range of community-related calls throughout the county in 2025, including:
398 animal complaints (up from 353 in 2024)
347 citizen assists
303 burglar alarm calls
297 welfare checks
285 911 hang-up calls
179 suspicious person calls
159 agency assists
159 sex offender registry checks
Domestic violence calls also increased slightly, rising from 168 calls in 2024 to 184 calls in 2025.
The Sheriff’s Office reports 924 arrests in 2025, compared to 881 arrests in 2024.
Court-related duties remained steady in 2025.
Deputies served 3,120 subpoenas during the year, slightly fewer than the 3,177 subpoenas served in 2024.
The year-end report also included data on protective orders.
Deputies served 166 protective orders in 2025.
As of January 2, 2026, the Knox County Jail housed 258 inmates, including 39 females and 219 males, down from 274 inmates exactly one year earlier.
