VINCENNES, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - The Vincennes Animal Shelter is waiving its fees this weekend in hopes of finding loving homes for dozens of pets.
Adoption fees will be waived on Saturday, giving families a chance to meet their new best friend and take them home without cost.
The move comes as the shelter has officially hit capacity.
WAKC News Now first reported last Friday that the shelter reached its limit due to a combination of owner surrenders, stray intakes, and unclaimed animals.
Officials hope this weekend’s adoption event will help ease the overcrowding and connect pets with the families they deserve.
While the event removes the financial barrier to adoption, the shelter is still requiring vet references and landlord approval for renters to ensure each animal is going to a safe and secure home.
The Vincennes Animal Shelter is located at 1128 River Road and will be open from 9:00am to 4:00pm on Saturday.
