EDWARDSPORT, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - Heavy rain is creating flooding issues for drivers across Southern Indiana.
State Road 358 outside Edwardsport near the Knox/Daviess County line closed on Wednesday evening after water from the White River began crossing the roadway.
Officials with the Indiana Department of Transportation were on site placing barricades in multiple locations along the road.
The National Weather Service is forecasting the White River to crest around 20 feet Thursday evening, which is expected to keep the road impassable.
Knox County Emergency Management Director John Streeter told WAKC News Now that first responders with Washington Township and Vigo Township Fire Department have watercraft and rescue equipment ready for any possible emergencies.
Several other roads in northern Knox County are also reporting water over the roadway as flooding continues.
Drivers are urged to check road conditions before traveling at https://knoxin.wthgis.com/
