WHEATLAND, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - A team working on a renewable energy project in Wheatland is helping make sure those in need stay warm this winter.
Workers with Signal Energy recently collected coats and winter clothing for families in Wheatland
Assistant Project Manager Glen Golden told WAKC News Now that the team collected 140 coats and raised $3,250.
“It feels good to contribute,” Golden said.
“We know there are people who cannot sometimes afford coats, hats, and gloves.”
Golden added that the team turned the drive into a friendly challenge.
“We have two different groups in the project, so we had a competition to see who could raise the most money and collect the most coats.”
Golden says the team began collecting items a month ago.
If you or someone you know is in need of a coat, or if would like to donate items, you can contact Wheatland Town Hall at 812-321-2340.
