Man Charged with Murder Following Standoff in Vincennes

VINCENNES, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - A man has been charged with murder following a standoff in Vincennes Tuesday afternoon.
The Vincennes Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at Cardinal Liquor on 6th Street around 1:00pm.
Officers arrived to find a woman suffering from a gunshot wound.
That woman was later pronounced dead and identified by the Knox County Coroner’s Office as 30-year-old Taylor Hendershot.
According to police, the suspect—32-year-old Dylan A. Smith—fled the scene in a black SUV.
That vehicle was located a block away, leading officers to a residence on Carbon Street.
A tenant inside the home informed police that Smith was inside and armed with a knife.
A standoff ensued and lasted several hours before Smith was taken into custody.
The Vincennes Police Department says the investigation remains ongoing and no additional details are being released at this time.
