“I’ve Had Enough”: Knox County Commissioner Calls Out Street Sign Vandalism and Theft

OAKTOWN, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - Knox County Commissioner Kellie Streeter took to Facebook over the weekend, expressing concern and frustration over the ongoing theft and vandalism of street signs in northern Knox County.

According to Streeter, six signs were damaged and nine were stolen throughout Oaktown last week.

“This issue has been ongoing in the Oaktown area for years, and it is imperative that it be addressed,” Streeter said.

“I’ve had enough.”

Streeter emphasized that stealing or damaging street signs isn’t just illegal—it’s dangerous.

“Removing warning or stop signs can lead to serious or even fatal accidents,” she said.

Street also mentioned that replacing the signs requires substantial costs and manpower, diverting resources from essential road maintenance.

Anyone with information about the damaged or stolen signs is urged to contact the Knox County Sheriff’s Office at 812-882-7660 or the Knox County Highway Department at 812-882-2884.
