Good Samaritan Hospital to Close Hospice Program

ree

VINCENNES, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - Good Samaritan Hospital has announced it will be closing its hospice program.

The last day of service will be Wednesday, December 31, 2025. The decision was made by the hospital’s Executive Team and Board of Governors after reviewing health care trends and focusing on long-term sustainability.

According to CEO Rob McLin, hospice care is increasingly provided by organizations dedicated solely to end-of-life services, and the hospital is refocusing its resources on its core hospital and outpatient services.

All current hospice patients will continue to receive care during the transition, McLin said.

Patients will receive letters outlining available resources, and Good Samaritan is working with regional hospice providers to ensure a seamless transition.

The hospital will also continue offering palliative care services to provide comfort and support to patients throughout the change.

WAKC News Now has reached out to Good Samaritan Hospital for more information, including details on what families can expect during the transition and what will happen to employees and caregivers in the hospice program.

We will provide an update once we hear back.
