City of Bicknell Looking to Purchase New Holiday Lights

Since 2015, the city of Bicknell has not had any Christmas light displays hung on the street lamps that run along Main Street in Downtown Bicknell.

Bicknell Mayor Thomas Estabrook wants to bring back the “mainstay of downtown” by purchasing new seasonal holiday lights that can be displayed during the Christmas season as well as 4th of July and Labor Day. The lights cost anywhere from $500.00 to $1,000.00 a piece and could easily exceed a total cost of $20,000.00. Last week, Estrabrook reached out to area businesses asking for donations.

So far the city has raise around $1,500.00 to put towards the purchase of holiday lights, including a $1,000.00 donation from Owen County State Bank in Bicknell on Monday.

Individuals and businesses who are interested in making a donation can do so by contacting the City of Bicknell office at 812-735-4636.
