Visit Vincennes and Knox County Searching for Mr. 250

KNOX COUNTY, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - As America gears up to celebrate its 250th birthday in 2026, the Vincennes and Knox County Tourism Bureau is searching for a local legend-in-the-making: Mr. 250.

The character will help locally celebrate America’s birthday with a series of fun, silly videos and appearances—all while dressed in a Revolutionary War-inspired costume with a flair for the dramatic.

“It’s what you’d get if the WWE designed Colonial attire—bombastically masculine,” said Visit Vincennes and Knox County Executive Director Janice Barniack.

The role is open to volunteers, and the bureau is looking for someone with a big personality.

“We’re looking for a fun and unique person—a real jokester,” Barniack said.

“If your personality is a little bit Spirit Halloween and maybe just a little bit mullet, you are who we’re looking for.”

Mr. 250 will perform goofy “feats of strength” involving the number 250—like cracking 250 eggs or lifting 250 marshmallows—all for light-hearted, attention-grabbing content that will be shared on social media.

Barniack says there may also be parade appearances or community events.

The first promotional video shoot will take place Thursday, June 20 at the Old Town Players in Vincennes, and the public is invited to attend.

Barniack encourages everyone to get involved, even if they’re not auditioning for Mr. 250.

“Even if you’re not Mr. 250, if you have an iguana and you’re willing to put a hat on it or do something fun in the video—come on out.”

To learn more or to express interest in becoming Mr. 250, call Barniack at 812-632-0118.
