VINCENNES, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - The Vincennes Parks and Recreation Department has big plans for the basketball court at Lester Park, but they need your help to make it happen.
A fundraising campaign kicked off on Tuesday with a goal of raising $50,000 by May 17, 2025.
So far, 19 people have donated a total of $10,600.
The money will go toward removing the existing basketball court and relocating it to a new spot within Lester Park.
The project includes paving space for two full-sized basketball courts, painting lines, installing new basketball goals, adding upgraded lighting, and providing seating for spectators.

If the goal is met by the deadline, the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) will contribute an additional $50,000 to the project.
This initiative follows the recent renovation of the skate park at Lester Square Park, which was completed after years of planning and discussion.
Lester Square Park also features outdoor fitness equipment, a playground, and open space for recreation.
Those interested in donating can do so through Patronicity’s website.
Cash or check donations can be dropped off or mailed to:
