Vigo Street to Close as State Road 441 Project in Vincennes Moves Forward

VINCENNES, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - Work continues on the State Road 441 project in Vincennes.
The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announced that Vigo Street, from 2nd Street to 6th Street, will close to traffic on Friday.
The closure is expected to last about a week, depending on the weather.
According to INDOT, contractors will be milling and paving the road.
State Road 441 includes Willow Street from Ramsey Road to 6th Street, 6th Street from Willow to Vigo, and Vigo Street from 6th to the Memorial Bridge.
The State Road 441 project began earlier this spring.
In recent weeks, Willow Street from Niblack Road to 13th Street has been repaved and converted from four lanes to two lanes with a center turn lane.
The intersections at 6th and Willow Street and 6th and Vigo Street have also been redesigned to make it easier for semis and larger vehicles to navigate.
INDOT previously told WAKC News Now that the project is expected to wrap up by this fall.
