Updated: 8 minutes ago

VINCENNES, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - The name of the victim who died following a crash on Highway 50 east of Vincennes on Tuesday has been released.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office says 88-year-old Marlin Dreiman of Monroe City was killed after his truck was hit by a dump truck.

Investigators say Dreiman was traveling south on Anson Road and failed to yield the right of way to a dump truck traveling east on Highway 50.

The dump truck, driven by 46-year-old Scotty Demoss of Solsberry, Indiana, struck the passenger side of Dreiman’s truck.

Both vehicles came to rest in a nearby ditch.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the Indiana State Police are reconstructing that crash and also investigating a second crash that happened in the westbound lanes while first responders were working the first crash.

Deputies say those involved in the second crash suffered only minor injuries.

Both crashes shut down both the westbound and eastbound lanes of Highway 50 as first responders conducted their investigation and crews worked to clean up the scene.
