KNOX COUNTY, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - Heavy snowfall is continuing to impact trash and recycling services across Knox County, with multiple cities and towns announcing cancellations or delays this week.
The City of Vincennes announced Wednesday that trash and recycling pickup will not take place this week due to road conditions caused by the snow.
City officials say normal trash and recycling schedules are expected to resume February 2.
Trash service has also been canceled for the week in Sandborn, Edwardsport, and Westphalia.
Heshelman Trash Service confirmed it plans to resume regular pickup beginning next week.
In Monroe City, officials announced that Republic Services will not be collecting trash this week.
The town of Bruceville also announced there will be no trash pickup this week.
In a statement shared on the town’s Facebook page, officials cited unsafe road conditions as one of the reasons.
“We need the roads to be cleared enough to safely move the trash trailer. We’ve also been experiencing issues with the vac station,” the statement read.
Town officials said they understand residents may have extra trash bags and will make accommodations.
Trash service in Bruceville is expected to resume on February 2.
In Bicknell, trash pickup has been delayed until Thursday and Friday.
Mayor Thomas Estabrook said residents who do not want to wait for curbside pickup may drop off stickered trash at the former Street Department building.
The drop-off site is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
