VINCENNES, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - If you’ve driven through the intersections of 2nd and Vigo or 6th and Vigo Streets in Vincennes recently, you may have noticed the stoplights are gone and four-way stop signs are in place instead.
WAKC News Now reached out to the Indiana Department of Transportation to find out why the stoplights were removed and if the stoplights will be put back up.
“There are new stoplights being installed,” said INDOT Public Relations Director Gary Brian.
The stoplights are expected to be down for about two more weeks, depending on the weather.
The new stoplights are part of the State Road 441 improvement project.
State Road 441 follows Willow Street from Ramsey Road to 6th Street, then continues along 6th to Vigo, and from Vigo Street to the Memorial Bridge.
Brian added that the stoplights at 15th and Willow Street are newer and will stay in place.
