VINCENNES, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - The City of Vincennes is moving forward with plans to add sidewalks along a stretch of Hart Street.
Design plans were completed this spring, and bids for the project will open July 14.
City Engineer John Sprague told members of the Vincennes Redevelopment Commission during a recent meeting that a contract is expected to be awarded on July 28.
Sprague says the project will add sidewalks along the northeast side of Hart Street from CVS to McDonald’s.
Curb ramps are already installed at the intersection of Hart Street and Veterans Drive and Hart Street and 15th 1/2 Street.
Sprague told RDC members the goal is to complete the work by Thanksgiving.
In addition, the Indiana Department of Transportation plans to improve sidewalks and resurface Hart Street from Veterans Drive to Kimmell Road.
INDOT Southwest Public Relations Director Gary Brian confirmed the project with WAKC News Now.
Brian says the INDOT portion of the project will begin in 2026.
