KNOX COUNTY, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - Pace Community Action Agency says it will continue services thanks to community support.
Last week, the nonprofit announced that its Head Start program might not receive new federal funding after November 1 if the shutdown continued.
In a video posted to its Facebook page on Tuesday, CEO Tai Blythe said Head Start services will continue. Health Connection will keep taking appointments, and energy assistance applications will continue to be processed.
“We’re still waiting for funding to put toward those bills, but applications are being processed, and eligible individuals can still receive moratorium protection,” she said.
Blythe said the agency does not know how long it can operate without federal funding.
“For right now, we’re going to be able to keep our doors open thanks to the support of businesses, foundations, and individuals who have donated.”
In a previous statement, Pace said the grant supports classroom operations, staff pay, meals, and health services for local children and families.
Blythe said donations are still being accepted.
Those who want to help can donate online or send checks to: Pace CAA, 525 N. 4th St., Vincennes, IN 47591.
