Boil Order Lifted for Vincennes Water Utilities Customers

VINCENNES, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - Less than 24 hours after it was issued, a boil order affecting customers of Vincennes Water Utilities has been lifted.

Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum informed WAKC News Now around 2:00 that the order was lifted.

Mayor Yochum shared a statement from Vincennes Water Utilities that says the six locations that initially failed testing were resampled, with more extensive testing conducted.

Officials say each site was tested both upstream and downstream.

“All samples came back absent of E. coli, leading officials to believe the initial results were due to a sampling or laboratory error,” the statement reads.

The boil order was originally issued Friday afternoon.

At that time, the City of Vincennes cited a “lab error” and said the order was issued “out of an abundance of caution.”

The boil order originally included Knox County Water customers since it purchases it's water from Vincennes Water Utilities.

Knox County Water has confirmed that the boil order is lifted for it's customers.
