Over 250 Flags Retired During Ceremony on Saturday

VINCENNES, Ind. (We Are Knox County) – More than 250 worn and damaged American flags were respectfully retired during a ceremony at the Indiana Military Museum on Saturday morning.

The event was hosted by the Lincoln High School Army JROTC in partnership with the Indiana Military Museum, a local veterans organization, the Sons of the American Revolution, Wreaths Across America, and Fred Schliker.

Several people attended to honor the nation’s symbol and witness the flags being retired in accordance with proper traditions.

Now in its fifth year, the annual ceremony continues to provide a dignified way for the community to retire U.S. flags and wreaths that have honored veterans at their resting places.

Organizers say the event will take place around the same time next year.
