One Injured, One Arrested After Weekend UTV Crash in Knox County

VINCENNES, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - A weekend crash has left one person injured and another behind bars.
Deputies with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded to a UTV crash around 12:30 Sunday afternoon on Hoods Road, south of Vincennes.
When deputies arrived, they found a Yamaha side-by-side on its side in a cornfield.
Deputies say the driver, identified as 27-year-old Jared Cummins, was unsteady on his feet and had red, bloodshot eyes.
Cummins failed a field sobriety test and refused any additional testing.
A warrant was granted for a blood draw, and preliminary results showed Cummins’ BAC was .277.
Cummins was taken to the Knox County Jail on a charge of operating while intoxicated resulting in serious bodily injury.
According to deputies, the passenger—24-year-old Dawson Foster—suffered an open fracture to his left knee and was set to undergo emergency orthopedic surgery.
Cummins remains in jail on a $10,000 bond.
