New Features Unleashed at Dog Park in Vincennes

Writer: Nathan SpringfieldNathan Springfield

VINCENNES, Ind. (We Are Knox County) -  The dog park in Vincennes has received some exciting new additions for dogs.

Four new features are now ready: the Corgi Climber, Collie Crawl, Pointer Plank, and Spaniel Single Jump.

These fun obstacles give dogs a chance to get active and engage in some playful exercise.

More improvements to the park are on the way.

Stacie Philips, Activities Director for Knox County Parks and Recreation, shared that the community has asked for better lighting and security.

The park will also get a new leash hanger and more signs to help keep things running smoothly.

The goal of these upgrades is to attract more visitors to the park and create a more welcoming environment for everyone.

The dog park is open from dawn to dusk at Hillcrest Park.

To access the park, pet owners need to show their dog’s vaccination records at the Vincennes Animal Shelter, located at 1128 River Road in Vincennes.

Philips reminds owners that dogs need the Bordetella vaccine, also known as kennel cough.

This particular vaccine, while recommended, is not always mandatory, so please verify that your pet has received it, Philips said.

Once the shelter checks the dog’s vaccines, the owner will receive a gate code to access the park.

There is no cost to access the park.

You can connect with other dog owners who visit the Vincennes dog park by joining the ‘Hillcrest Dog Park’ Facebook group here.
