KNOX COUNTY, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - Residents in Knox County will have a chance to share their thoughts with county leaders on the current solar ordinance.
A public comment meeting will take place on Sunday, March 1 at 3:00 p.m. at the Blue Jeans Center in Monroe City.
“I want to make sure everyone is heard,” said Knox County Commissioner TJ Brink.
“There are a lot of folks who work during the week who may not be able to come to these meetings.”
The current solar ordinance was put into effect in 2020.
Under the ordinance, solar equipment must be at least 50 feet from a non-participating property line or the edge of a public right-of-way, and at least 200 feet from the foundation of any home, business, or other principal-use building.
Following the public comment meeting, commissioners will formally discuss whether changes need to be made to the ordinance during the next Knox County Commissioners meeting, which will take place on Monday, March 3 at 10:00 a.m. at Vincennes City Hall.
