Heart to Heart in Vincennes Receives Grant from Duke Energy Foundation

VINCENNES, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - A women's resource center in Vincennes recently received a grant.

Earlier this week, the Duke Energy Foundation awarded $3,000 to Heart to Heart.

This marks the second consecutive year the nonprofit has received support from the foundation.

Heart to Heart Executive Director Paige Williams told WAKC News Now the grant will fund the group’s yearlong curriculum and upgrade its system for communicating with clients and tracking progress.

“We’re deeply thankful to Duke Energy Foundation for investing in the families who need it most,” said Williams.

According to Williams, last year’s grant funded new iPads and Roku devices, which helped the organization shift from paper-based to digital lessons.

“These tools also enabled us to use additional TVs for overflow classroom space, which has been critical as we’ve nearly tripled in size over the past two years.”

Heart to Heart was founded in 1999.

“What began as a small group offering parenting classes and emotional support has grown into a full-service family support center,” Williams told WAKC News Now.

“Today, we provide free ultrasounds, pregnancy testing, Earn While You Learn parenting classes (voucher-based), peer mentorship, and emergency assistance including diapers, wipes, baby gear, clothing, and more.”

The organization now serves more than 200 clients annually and continues to grow.

Williams says there are several ways the public can get involved.

People can donate gently used baby and maternity items, diapers, and wipes; contribute monetarily; volunteer their time; or simply help spread the word by sharing posts on social media.

Heart to Heart has a website and is also active on Facebook.
