Hazleton Man Arrested Following Traffic Stop in Knox County

KNOX COUNTY, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - A Hazelton man was arrested on multiple charges following a traffic stop in Knox County.
According to the Indiana State Police, deputies stopped a car driven by 27-year-old Jared VanPatten on Highway 50 Tuesday evening.
Officers say VanPatten was allegedly speeding and nearly hit two other vehicles.
Inside the vehicle were a 4-year-old and a 6-year-old, who ISP says were later identified as VanPatten’s children.
While speaking with him, officers reported detecting the odor of alcohol, and noted that he showed signs of impairment.
VanPatten was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital, where the investigation continued.
The Indiana State Police says VanPatten’s two children were released to a relative.
VanPatten faces charges of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated with Passengers Less Than 18 Years of Age, Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, Neglect of a Dependent, and Disorderly Conduct.
VanPatten was arrested and booked into the Knox County Jail.
