Construction Begins on Hart Street Sidewalk Addition

VINCENNES, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - Work is under way to add additional sidewalks along one of Vincennes’ busiest streets.

Contractors started earlier this week on Hart Street, adding sidewalks on the northeast side from McDonald’s to CVS.

Hart Street currently has sidewalks on one side only; the new construction will add sidewalks where none currently exist.

Vincennes City Engineer John Sprague told WAKC News Now the project is expected to be finished by November 21.

According to Sprague, the Indiana Department of Transportation plans to continue the sidewalks along Hart Street from Veterans Drive to Kimmell Road sometime next year.

Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution when traveling through the area.

Lane restrictions and traffic flow changes are in place during the day while work is being done.
