VINCENNES, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - Lester Square Park in Vincennes is set to get a major upgrade with the addition of new basketball courts.
The City of Vincennes has successfully raised $50,786—surpassing its $50,000 fundraising goal—to support the project.
Because the goal was met, the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) will match donations dollar for dollar, up to $50,000.
Hundreds of residents and local organizations contributed to the campaign. Vincennes Parks and Recreation Superintendent JR Fields told WAKC News Now that he plans to meet with contractors next week.
The upgrades will include moving the courts to a different location in the park, paving space for two full-sized courts, painting new court lines, installing modern basketball goals, upgrading lighting, and adding seating for spectators.
Donations are still being accepted through Saturday, May 17.
Those interested in donating can do so through Patronicity’s website.
Cash or check donations can be dropped off or mailed to:
Vincennes City Hall
203 Vigo Street
Vincennes, IN., 47591
