City Working to Resolve Ongoing Traffic Light Issue in Vincennes

VINCENNES, Ind. (We Are Knox County) -  Drivers in Vincennes have been dealing with a persistent issue at the intersection of 6th Street and Minneapolis Avenue.

For weeks, the stoplight there has been switching between normal operation and flashing red in all directions.

The signal is owned and maintained by the City of Vincennes.

City Engineer John Sprague told WAKC News Now that the situation has been frustrating.

“The problem is that we can’t find the problem,” Sprague said.

“We’ve linked it to moisture, but we’re still struggling to identify the exact cause.”

Despite several attempts to fix the issue, a solution has not yet been found.

A contractor will soon install a temporary control cabinet, which will help in diagnosing and resolving the problem.

Until the issue is resolved, drivers are urged to treat the intersection as a four-way stop whenever the light is flashing red.
