BICKNELL, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - The City of Bicknell will hold a caucus following the passing of City Council member Tim Miller.
Miller, who represented District 3, served on the council since 2020.
According to Knox County Democratic Party Chairperson Marsha Fleming, the caucus will be held on Thursday, August 7 at 6:00 p.m. at Bicknell City Hall, located at 119 E. 2nd Street.
“A candidate must have a record of voting in Democratic Party primaries, be a registered voter, and live within the boundaries of District 3 in Bicknell,” Fleming told WAKC News Now.
Candidates must also submit a CEB-5 form to the party no later than 72 hours before the caucus.
The person selected will complete Miller’s unexpired term, which runs through December 31, 2027.
Candidates interested in the seat must submit a letter of interest to kcindems@gmail.com by Wednesday, August 6.
Those candidates will then have an opportunity to speak or submit a written statement to the four Bicknell precinct chairs during the caucus.
The precinct chairs will vote by secret ballot to choose the new council member.
