VINCENNES, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - Amazon has announced that it will be building a delivery station in Vincennes.
The 104,000-square-foot delivery station will be located in the Knox County Industrial Park at the corner of Keller Road and Industrial Park Boulevard.
According to a press release from Amazon shared with WAKC News Now by the Knox County Economic Development Corporation, construction is expected to begin in the coming weeks.
According to Amazon, delivery stations play a key role in the final step of the order process.
Packages are shipped from nearby fulfillment and sortation centers to delivery stations, where they are loaded into delivery vehicles for local delivery.
The press release states that an average rural delivery station supports about 170 jobs, along with additional driving opportunities through Amazon’s Delivery Service Partner and Amazon Flex programs.
An Amazon spokesperson said the company does not yet have a timeline for when operations will start or when hiring will begin, noting the project remains in the early stages.
The company said the Vincennes delivery station is part of a broader effort to expand its rural delivery network nationwide.
WAKC News Now will continue to follow this story and provide updates.
