Winter Weather on Friday

FORECAST:

A cold front will move across the area late Thursday night. This will cause temperatures to quickly drop from the mid 50's to the lower to mid 20's. Around midnight Thursday, rain will change over to freezing rain and sleet. Knox County could see between 0.1''-0.25'' of ice.

We will begin to see snow around 7:00-10:00 Friday morning. The snow is expected last into late Friday afternoon into early Friday evening. Knox County will accumulate 2''-4'' of snow by late Friday night.

If the snow and ice totals change or if any watches or warnings are issued, we will pass that information to you on both Facebook and Twitter.

ROAD CONDITIONS/SCHOOL DELAYS:

With the snow and ice expected to hit Knox County, there is no doubt that roads will because slick and travel will become difficult. You can get road conditions before you head out by calling INDOT at 1-800-261-7623 or view the Google Live Traffic Map by clicking here.

Schools may also be delayed or even closed on Friday due to the inclement weather. We will post all Knox County school closings and delays on our Facebook page as we get them in.

POWER OUTAGES:

There is the possibility that some residents could face power outages due from this weather. Be sure to call your electric provider to report outages. DO NOT CALL 9-1-1.
