1976 Time Capsule to Be Opened Saturday

VINCENNES, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - A time capsule buried in the summer of 1976 at George Rogers Clark National Historical Park will be opened during a special community program on July 4.

Park staff exhumed the capsule earlier this week, which was placed during the Bicentennial dedication nearly 50 years ago.

Chief Ranger Joe Herron told WAKC News Now the capsule contains letters and other items from the era that were added by community members and students from local schools.

The contents will be revealed during a special “show and tell” program on Friday, July 4, from 4 to 5 p.m. at the George Rogers Clark National Historical Park Visitor Center.

The event is free and open to the public.
