Virgil F. Smith Jr. 82 of Vincennes went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, November 10, 2021.
He was born in Vincennes on February 7, 1939 to the late Virgil Frances Smith Sr. and Bertha Wetzel Smith.
Virgil proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was employed by Royal Crown Cola Maintenance. He enjoyed woodworking, flowers, drinking coffee with the McDonald’s coffee crew; and he loved going to Hobby Lobby and Harbor Freight. Virgil was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and 40&8.
Virgil is survived by; his two daughters, Robin Davis (Frank) of Bloomington Indiana and Shannon Carman (Mike) of Napoleon Indians, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his beloved dog, Rocky; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by; his parents; wife, Penny Jo Hankins Smith; one son, Michael Smith; and four sisters, Mildred Nowaskie, Margaret Applen, Rose Perry, and Shirley Vantlin.
There will be visitation on Sunday from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Homes, Vincennes Chapel with a service following at 7:00 P.M. Burial will follow at a later date in Vincennes Cemetery.
