Charleen Jo Hendershot


Charleen Jo Hendershot, 83, passed away at Willow Manor Nursing Home on June 1, 2022. Charlene was born on August 23, 1938 in Washington, IN and she was the daughter of Thomas G. and M. Lucille (Burris) Grannan. She married Jess Hendershot on August 3, 1957.


Charleen was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Parish and attended Sacred Heart. She retired from Harold's Supermarket as a bookkeeper. She enjoyed quilting, cross stitching and crocheting, and playing BINGO. She also enjoyed watching sports, especially the Pacers, Colts, Cardinals and IU. Most importantly though, Charleen enjoyed being around her grandchildren and great grandchildren.


Survivors include her husband, Jess Hendershot of Vincennes, IN; her children, Jeff Hendershot and his wife Gara Lee, Jerry Hendershot and his wife Terri, Susan Hendershot; her siblings, Tonya Pershing and her husband Dick of Atlanta, GA, Phyllis Haag of Bedford, IN; her grandchildren, Taylor Hendershot, Kaedy Hendershot, Ashlee Montgomery, Cassidy Hendershot, Madison Jo Martin-Hendershot, Jaden Hendershot, Colten Leehy; and her great grandchildren, Jaycee Montgomery, Grannan Montgomery, Harlee Montgomery, Rowan Martin, Brayla Gilmore, Mila Leehy, Taya Hendershot, Malaysia Hendershot, and Waylon Smith. Charleen is preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Terri Lee Hendershot.


Friends may visit with Charleen's family from 4-7 pm on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, June 6, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2004 N. 2nd St., Vincennes, IN 47591 with Rev. Tony Ernst celebrating. Charleen will be laid to rest in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
